Avery Goes Apple Picking

The first fall that we moved to New York we discovered the wonderful world of apple picking. We moved from Florida, so the closest thing we had to this was orange picking. My parents had an orange tree in their backyard, so the idea of going on a special trip to pick oranges just didn’t feel that exciting.

But apple picking is a different story. It is a chance for us to get out of the city and see the beautiful fall colors in upstate New York. This is our third year visiting this particular farm and it gets better every year.

This was Avery’s first visit to the apple farm and she loved every single minute of it. The weather was beautiful and perfect for picking apples. Avery didn’t seem as interested in picking apples as she was trying to eat them.

Take a look at our family trip to the apple farm after the jump!  nggallery id=’113446′

It Was Love at First Apple
We got to the orchard the first thing in the morning and it was beautiful outside. As soon as we put Avery down she was all smiles.

    First Bite of Apple
We found so many small apples that were the perfect size for Avery. Although she couldn't bite down on them, she loved trying.

Avery and I walked around from tree to tree looking at the different apples. She loved every minute of it.

    Daddy and His Girls
I love this shot of MacKay and the girls. It took one simple shot to get this one. The one of the girls and I didn't happen as such. I think there is just something extra special about a father and his little girls.

What Will Happen If I Crawl Off This Mat?
The grass was still damp from the morning dew so that is why we put the mat down. Avery was so good at staying on it and as soon as she started to crawl around she was a bit hesitant about crawling on the grass. Remember, we are city people so she doesn't interact with grass often.

I'll Just Eat Them Instead of Picking Them
We tried to get Avery to help daddy pick the apples, but she was only interested in eating them. She left all of the hard work to the rest of us.

The grass finally started to dry off, so I put her down it in. She loved it.

I love this shot of the girls. I couldn't get them both to look at the camera at the same time, but the sweet look on their faces just says it all.
  • Family Shot 9 of 11
    Family Shot
The obligatory family shot at the orchard. It took so many shots just to get a good one. And this doesn't even have both girls looking at the camera.

The farm had this amazing hay ride that takes you to this beautiful pumpkin patch. Harlan had so much fun picking out a pumpkin for her and Avery.

Searching For The Perfect Pumpkin With Daddy
As soon as we jumped off the truck from the hay ride daddy and his girls were off to search for pumpkins that we could take home.
