Avery's Newborn Photo Shoot

It’s hard to believe that yesterday marked Avery’s seven-week birthday. She is growing so quickly and starting to outgrow her “newborn look.”

Although it’s only been nearly two months, the memories of when Avery was just days old are beginning to become somewhat of a blur.  With family coming in and out of town, still trying to keep the life of my two-year old on the same schedule, and taking care of a newborn, these past seven weeks seem like a whirlwind. Thankfully I have Avery’s newborn photos to look back on when I want to remember her at just days old.

I am a big fan of photography, so there was no question that I wanted to take Avery to the same studio that I had my maternity photos done. I met Nathan, the owner of PhotoOp here in NYC, at an event a couple of months ago and was so impressed with their photos. PhotoOp helped me capture the last moments that we had as a family of three and they were one of the first to capture of us as a new family of four.

Avery was 10 days old when we had our photo session and although she did not want to sleep at all the day of the session (both of my girls were a bit cranky), Nathan and his staff captured her most precious moments. They even got the most amazing shots of the two girls together, which I am truly grateful for.

Check out some of my favorites from Avery’s newborn photo session after the jump!

Our first formal shot as a family of four.
  • Sisterly love 2 of 8
    Sisterly love
Harlan loves to give Avery hugs and kisses. She is so affectionate with her and it melts my heart.
  • Precious Moment 3 of 8
    Precious Moment
I would love to know what Harlan was thinking in this picture, but I imagine it being something along the lines of how much she adores her new little sister. She really is so in love with her.
  • Wide Awake 4 of 8
    Wide Awake
She was awake for most of this photo session and would not take a nap no matter how hard I tried. They still captured some great photos. I love how curled up she is in this picture.
  • My Little Love 5 of 8
    My Little Love
So hard to believe that she was so tiny she could fit right in my arm.
  • Just Like Her Sister 6 of 8
    Just Like Her Sister
My older daughter Harlan wore this hat at her newborn photo session and I wanted to make sure to get Avery in it as well. It will be so great to look back on years from now.
  • Finally Asleep 7 of 8
    Finally Asleep
Once we turned up the heat and added a little white noise, this little lady was out and looking like a precious angel.
  • Curled Up 8 of 8
    Curled Up
Can you tell I have a thing for newborns in hats? It was a challenge to get this hat on her without waking her up, but we managed and I love the way this photo turned out.

Thank you to Nathan and his staff at PhotoOp for letting us hold on and look back at these memories when our second little girl was just days old. We can’t wait to come back and have you capture many more memories for us as she grows!

Did you have newborn photos done?
