Aside from the obvious tunes you should be introducing your littles to; Bob Marley, Nina Simone, Led Zeppelin & The Beatles – but of course. It’s nice to give them something all their own. That which doesn’t suck for us parents who have to listen to it.
Here are some of my picks that don’t make you want to ram your head through the wall when/if they quickly become their favourites. Not all are ‘kid albums’ specifically, babies aren’t much into labels. They just want the good stuff. Gentle vibes for soothing moments and happy ones for play and discovery.
The Be Good Tanya’s – Blue Horse

Toucan Jam – A World of Music
Do Fun Stuff – Vol. 1
Earthwork Music For Kids
The Guardian – Longhouse
Sweet Water Women – Self Titled
Many songs on this album are great for winding down, while the powerful beat of the drum and powerhouse voices on others, rend you baby mesmerized. Well, sometimes. Really! Babies LOVE drumming. Click to Purchase!
The Monkey Bunch – Power To The Little People
This rocks so hard I can barley contain my excitement from sharing it with you. Go listen now! It's probably my favourite on this list, if I had to choose. Click to Purchase!
The Celtic Rathskallions – All Around The Circle
Aside from the fact that one of the musicians on this album is my kids' g-papa, it's a solid win for the A-Team. Click to Purchase!
Now what about all of this Mozart Effect and other classical music buzz for babies? Is it really going to make our kids brainier? I’d buy that theory for a thousand, Alec.
