Baby G has hair! No, really, she does!

Happy Baby G

I know you can’t really tell from the photo I posted over there to your left, but I swear it’s true: at 8 months,  G finally has some soft peach fuzz on top of her li’l head. I keep trying to get a picture of it, but given the fact that it’s still pretty dang sparse, the light has to be hitting it just right for the camera to see it. So far, no luck with capturing the nascent head of hair on camera, but I’m sure I’ll be able to get a photo you can see soon.

In the meantime, I just can’t stop running my hands over it, and feeling how soft it is. Her next-oldest sister, C, never had a single hair on her head until she was around a year old, and still didn’t have that much for a good while after that (witness C’s noteworthy baby skullet, which developed sometime around 14-20 months) . All three of the older kids were born with plenty of hair. In fact, my 15 year old daughter J was born with a full head of gorgeous black hair, and she never lost any of it. The nurses couldn’t stop ooohing and aaahing over J’s amazing hair. (Her hair remains gorgeous and thick and almost black 15 years later).

In other news, Baby G and her dad survived my three days of work travel last week, although when I got home, G was so happy to see me that she clung to me just like a baby monkey for the next 12 hours, occasionally burying her face in my neck and giggling with sheer happiness that I was actually back home.  Jon told me that it all went well except that on the second night, as he realized he had the three year old’s leg tangled in his t-shirt, while G would immediately wake if he so much as shifted his arm into which she had nestled for the night, he momentarily considered actually gnawing off his own arm in order to leave her sleeping and get some sleep himself. But like I said, everyone survived.

Okay, I have to run now because I want to try putting G in front of the window at different angles to see if I can get the light to shine just right onto her wee noggin so that I can get a really good picture of the hair that I SWEAR she really has now. When I get my shot, I’ll post it here so you can see how cute her hair  is :-)

How about your babies? When did they get hair? Or were they born with a full head of it? Did it start out one color but then fall out and become something altogether different? Anybody else’s offspring develop a baby skullet like C’s?
