At least one of my kids have had roseola before, the others may have but the sleep deprivation stole those memories (or maybe I blocked them out). But this weekend was spent with my sweet barely 12-week-old baby girl feverish and completely miserable with what turned out to be roseola!
I’ve heard moms report that sometimes there’s a sore throat with roseola or just some really epic fussiness — and that might explain what we experienced. We even thought River had an ear infection, because she would cry the moment she nursed and swallowed her first drink, was screaming in pain like an earache and was just so out of her mind fussy.
It wasn’t until our normal treatments for ear infections (we go natural whenever possible and use garlic oil drops in the ears — usually works right away and this time it did nothing — and for a reason!) didn’t work that I thought maybe this was something else. Thankfully it was only one evening of panicking and the next morning I saw that tell-tale roseola rash and new it was all finally about to be over. We aren’t ones to run to the doctor easily, but even if we were it was Christmas weekend and showed me first hand that this baby may have a knack for bad timing!
