Some days, no matter how hard I try, typing up a blog post just seems like an impossible task.
Why did no one tell me before I got pregnant how needy a baby would be?! OK, I kid. I knew. But, for some reason blogging with a baby just didn’t seem like one of the things that would make it onto the “challenging list”. Apparently I was wrong.
Maybe I’m just really bad at time management. This is a strong possibility, but there are also other reasons why blogging with a baby is ridiculously difficult.
Here are five of those reasons…
1. Babies want all of your attention and they want it right NOW.
Fern could care less about the blog post I’m writing on the latest in breast feeding fashions. All she cares about is me feeding her. Right. This. Very. Minute.
2. Speaking of breastfeeding…breastfeeding while blogging requires supernatural amounts of dexterity.
Balancing a baby on one boob, computer on my lap, one handed blogging, and trying to sneak in sips of water or a bite of granola bar all at once requires a ridiculous amount of dexterity that I didn’t even know that I had.
3. Writing a blog post takes FOR-EH-VER.
Type 3 sentences. Change a diaper. Type 4 sentences. Soothe crying baby. Insert a photo. Make a bottle. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.
4. Lack of Material.
Actually having the time to read interesting articles and find interesting products to share in blog posts requires one-handed reading on my iPhone on-the-go. Also, it seems like whenever I’m reading baby/parenting-related articles, I get sucked into the wormhole that is the internet via cute baby ads in the side bar and suddenly I’m browsing through photos of random babies and pets or something equally awesome yet time wasting.
5. The cuteness is oh so distracting.
Even when Fern is happy and content sitting on her lounge pillow with toy in hand, I can’t help but get distracted by the adorable little gazes and smiles that she shoots my way. It totally melts my heart every time and makes me want to throw my laptop out the window and stare at her all day long instead.
