Five Things That Weigh Less Than Giant Baby George King

Fat baby feetIn cross-your-legs news this week, a woman in Great Britain revealed how she recently gave birth to a baby the size of a vintage boombox.

George King was born six weeks ago through vaginal delivery and tipped the scales at 15 pounds, 7 ounces, the BBC reports. The parents are Jade Packer and Ryan King of Cheltenham in South West England.

Amazingly, George’s size came as a shock even to doctors.

“When his head was out that’s when they realized he was so big,” Packer said.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the heaviest newborn in the world weighed nearly 23 pounds and was born in 1879 in Ohio, but the baby’s mother apparently suffered from gigantism and was more than seven feet tall.

Packer is just 5 feet, 7 inches tall and King is 6 foot 2, according to the Bristol Post.

For some perspective, here are things that weigh less than newborn George King:

  • Your average house cat
  • Three cantaloupes
  • The most popular choice of bowling ball
  • 62 iPhones
  • A toaster oven

Packer told the BBC she doesn’t think she’ll have any more babies for a while.
