I am relatively new to the world of blogging having started my own blog only twenty-one months ago. Even more recently have I begun to explore other blogs, having barely had time to write on my own. Every day, the more I read, the more I realize I’ve only just begun to unearth this blog-tacular universe of incredible writers. In particular, blogs from moms like and unlike myself. Every time I click on one of the Top 100 Mom Blogs on Babble, I’m dumbfounded by yet another interesting and well-written read.
I had never heard of Katie Allison Granju before I started blogging on Babble. At least I didn’t think I had heard of her…
Then, I realized I had actually linked to an article she wrote in my rancid review of On Becoming BabyWise over a year and a half ago. Now, we blog side by side, or rather under and over one another.
Since starting on the Baby’s First Year blog with her, I began to read her personal blog. I must say, I’m a little obsessed with her now–in a good way, of course. I’ve watched Henry’s story, and read many of her postings around the death of her young son as well as her other works, including her recent NY Times blog posting in response to Erica Jong.
I am truly amazed by her courage and stamina based on what she’s experienced in the last year. I look at my boys and my heart hurts when I imagine the pain of losing one of them. Meanwhile, she presses on in a way that is overwhelmingly inspiring to me and clearly, to her many many readers across the globe. I’m honored to be sharing a page with her.
