It was with my last foster child “Jacket” that I learned how crucial the first few years of learning are. She arrived at my door barely walking and not talking at 19 months old. Fortunately, with some extra attention she was able to catch up. The Rally4Babies, happening Monday, July 8th at from 2:00-2:30pm makes me wonder, could Jacket, and kids like her in foster care, have a better chance of staying home with their families if more preventative programs, like Head Start for babies, existed?
Rally4Babies learning Happens from the Start is a national virtual baby rally that will mobilize people across the country to demand that early learning investments begin with babies and toddlers. The rally is being held in conjunction with the Strong Start for Children coalition in an effort to get people talking about the importance of early learning birth to five.
