Cullen is lucky enough to have a gang of babies that he hangs out with each week. I made most of my mom friends when I was pregnant, and what drew us together as friends was that we were at similar stages of our pregnancy. We’d walk and talk, or meet for lunch, and discuss all things baby and pregnancy.
Here we are a year later, and all our babies are getting ready to celebrate the big ONE! Some people think of summer as wedding season, and for us now the fall has become birthday season!
In Cullen’s little circle of friends, there are six or seven babies all celebrating birthdays within about 30 days of each other. Our weekends are filling up quickly! It’s fun to see how every family celebrates, and to finally meet some of the extended family and long distance friends of the people I spend so much time with each week.
One of Cullen’s girlfriends actually shares a birthday with him (she is two hours older!). I thought that having competing birthday parties on the same day would take away from the celebration a bit, so I offered to do mine the day before. It won’t technically be ON Cullen’s birthday this year, but that means we’ll get to celebrate both days, and keep the festivities going all weekend long.
Now that we are less than a month out, I’m finally having fun planning and getting ready. It felt really overwhelming to get started, but I’m keeping it really simple. He has so many birthdays to come – might as well not set the bar too high out of the gates!
We’re looking forward to spending the next few weekends celebrating with our friends, watching little guys blow out candles and dig into their first cakes.
