First Night In the Crib a Success!Roni
Little Bean did well. The first 20 minutes or so was a bit of trial and error. I wanted to see if he would go down on his own and on his back. I let him cry for as long as I could take it, maybe 10 minutes, then nursed him a bit. I laid him back in the crib on his left side this time. I thought that did it but he only slept for a whopping 10 minutes before he was up and crying again. Finally I decided to offer the pacifier.
That was the ticket.
He went right out and rolled to his tummy about an hour later.
He slept for about 3 hours, woke up to nurse and then went right back down.
So did I!
He was up again in another 3 hours to eat and then…
went right back down AGAIN!
This is a total WIN in my book. As I said I don’t mind if he wakes up to nurse it’s just the in between fussing that was keeping me awake. I’m more than happy to stumble into his room like a zombie, nurse him and go back to bed.
During that time I give him no stimulation at all. I don’t turn on any lights. I don’t talk. I’m all business. Diaper, nurse, burp, bed. I’m hoping he gets the picture that nighttime is sleepy time.
So we are trying again this evening. He’s been sleeping all day so I’m not very hopeful. I’d like to get to a point where we put him down around 8 with a nice routine but I’m not ready and I don’t think he is either. For now I’m shooting for 10PM in the crib and I take him out no earlier than 6AM. We will slowly be working towards 8PM-8AM as he gets older. That’s my goal anyway.
I’ll keep you posted.
