From Newborn To Baby: The First 8 Weeks

I'm still trying to claim he looks like me...

Eight weeks ago tonight, I was laying in a hospital bed with a little scrunchy face staring back up at me.  I remember our time in the hospital like it was yesterday, and I truly cannot believe that almost two months have passed since then.

There have been tough days, but there have been far more good days, and every day I feel so ridiculously lucky to call this baby mine.

Below is a quick look back through his first 8 weeks – he has changed so much since his birthday…

  • Birthday! 1 of 9
    Birthday!
    He arrived 6 days late and after a long, tough labor. I feel in love with him immediately.
  • 1 Week 2 of 9
    1 Week
    He didn't do much that first week other than sleep, eat, and get passed around between grandparents. I had to fight to hold him myself!
  • 2 Weeks 3 of 9
    2 Weeks
    This was our first week on our own without family in town, and he went from being a sleepy newborn to much more alert and expressive!
  • 3 Weeks 4 of 9
    3 Weeks
    I think week 3 was our toughest to date. This was the week that made me think we might be in for weeks or months of colic and crying.

    4 Weeks
    Luckily, things calmed down during week four, and we all got a bit more rest.

    5 Weeks
    During Thanksgiving week, we started getting big goofy smiles. They are the highlight of each of my days.

    My happy baby smiles at me all day long, and I can't get enough of it!

    7 Weeks
    I suddenly realized that my little boy was growing up so quickly. He looks so big in his cute little baseball cap!

    8 Weeks
    Today! It has been the best 8 weeks of my life, and I can't wait to see what comes next...
