Happy 4 Month Birthday Baby!

Happy 4 month birthday Fern!

Fern  Winter turned four months old two days ago and we had our monthly photo shoot.  I can’t believe how fast she’s changing and growing (see Month 1 , Month 2 and Month 3 photo shoots to compare)!

This month we had a sleep regression, cried it out, realized just how similar Fern and her daddy are, and Fern even learned a new trick!

I am documenting Fern’s first year of life by doing a round up of my favorite photos from that month and taking her photo in front of our chalkboard and making a list of her likes and dislikes.

See Fern’s likes and dislikes and best photos from this past month after the jump!

Fern likes:

*playing in the bathtub, *chewing on her hands, *pulling Mommy’s hair, *her stuffed raccoon, *being outside, *being naked, *the sea creatures on her ceiling at night from her projector, *Daddy – she smiles every time he comes home, *trying to hold her own bottle

Fern dislikes:

*playing in her pool, *teething, *napping, *swaddling, *the Nose Frida, *

    4 month photo shoot.
Do you have any idea how difficult it is to get a 4 month old to hold still for a photo? Especially a 4 month old who likes to pull her dress over her head constantly? Pretty difficult.
  • Flashing became a favorite pastime. 2 of 11
    Flashing became a favorite pastime.
This month Fern gained greater control over her fine motor skills and since then has discovered the magic of flipping her dress up. I'm hoping she outgrows this by the time high school rolls around, although it's pretty adorable right now.
  • A new friend. 3 of 11
    A new friend.
Fern made friends with this stuffed raccoon this month and it appears to be a new favorite. I love that she fell asleep holding it's hand!
  • Sleepless nights. 4 of 11
    Sleepless nights.
This month we experienced a sleep regression, had some hard times and eventually after a bit of crying it out we are all sleeping much better now. This photo is perhaps my favorite of us to date. It's just a one armed photo taken while lying in bed, but I love how it perfectly captured this period of time: exhausted mommy and totally alert baby.
  • Getting tricked into napping. 5 of 11
    Getting tricked into napping.
Fern still hasn't grown to appreciate naps. This photo was taken after I had been trying to get her to nap all day and I finally gave up and snuggled up on the couch next to her. She finally fell asleep and I was able to sneak off and start dinner.
  • Mischievous. 6 of 11
    Mischievous.
I caught this photo when I was getting Fern ready for bed and she was being totally mischievous and not at all sleepy. It's hard to be frustrated when she's being so cute!
  • Maybe not so anti-pink. 7 of 11
    Maybe not so anti-pink.
Before I had Fern I was a total pink hater, and I'm still not super keen on it, but I'm definitely coming around. I love this sweet little pink outfit on her.
  • First swimsuit. 8 of 11
    First swimsuit.
Fern got her first swimsuit this month and we tried to test it out in her little kiddie pool, but she wasn't a fan so we decided to test it out in the bathtub which she enjoyed infinitely more.
  • My pretty girl. 9 of 11
    My pretty girl.
I snapped this while we were lying in bed one morning. When Fern wakes up, I bring her into my bed to nurse her and just to snuggle. I really cherish these moments. It's such a sweet time that I get to spend with her each day and I love how pretty she looks in the bright natural light of our room.
  • Mommy baby bond. 10 of 11
    Mommy baby bond.
I really feel like Fern and I developed a closer bond this month. I'm really beginning to feel like I truly do know her and her needs better than anyone else and she seems to show preference for me. I love this sweet moment my friend captured during a recent play date.
  • Matchy matchy. 11 of 11
    Matchy matchy.
I may or may not have dressed us in matching outfits to workout. She's going to be totally embarrassed by this photo one day.
