A couple days ago I found myself front and center at a fashion show where very tall and slender women marched down a long runway wearing a plethora of DRY CLEAN ONLY garments accessorized by some serious high heels. And while these women looked slammin’ amazing, it made me realize just how removed (in a good way) I am from this type of fashion lifestyle.
So while I might not be wearing the hottest pencil skirt and sexiest heels on a daily basis, I’m not fashionably dead either! I’m a mom to four young kids, one of whom is a baby. I need clothes and footwear that work for my lifestyle, and I don’t want to sacrifice style in lieu of comfort.
It was early in my first pregnancy (2004, what?), that I started to experience some pretty significant lower back pain. I went to the best shoe store in town, and asked for footwear that would take the pressure off my knees and back. The sales associated came out with a pair of Dansko clogs.

My very first pair was a pair of black patent leather professional clogs. I wore them religiously through all four of my pregnancies, and have since branched out into their different styles such as their boots and even sandals.
This year, they blew my mind when the came out with the Calais collection. Specifically, the Pewter Shimmer Suede Leather. I absolutely adore the simple look of this collection, it’s so easy to dress up, but casual enough to wear around the house.
My favorite? The Carol. I wear her almost every single day of the week. (pictured above)
Check out a few of my favorite new arrivals from Dansko:
Admit it, you love them too. I mean, how can go you wrong? They’re super comfortable, good for your body, and look really awesome too.
(giveaway alert.) Go ahead and pop on over to my personal blog, DesignHER Momma, where I’m hosting a Dansko giveaway for any pair from the Calais collection.
