Kara is now 3-weeks-old, and I am officially going completely stir crazy after being stuck at home with a newborn and a 2-year-old for what feels like TEN YEARS.
Because it is cold and flu season, I am a little paranoid about taking Kara out into the world. I know that some people take their new babies out and about immediately, and some stick close to home even longer than the three weeks that I’ve endured.
I’m really not sure if there are any “rules” on this these days.
When my mom gave birth to me in 1979, she said her doctor told her to stay in with the baby for 6 weeks. When I asked our pediatrician about it, she simply said to use common sense.
At this point, for my own mental well-being, I need to get out of the house. I am a little nervous about packing up two little ones on my own (I haven’t done it without help yet), but I know I better get used to it.
Tonight, we’re going to take a short trip to visit my parents, and it is really laughable how excited I am about that. Being stuck inside with the baby, combined with winter’s grey skies and chill have started to get me a little blue, so, I hope this trip helps!
How long did you keep your newborn at home?
