HOW TO: Make Your Baby Laugh [VIDEO]
If I had a dollar for every time I heard the following exclamation from a stranger on the street: “He’s so happy!” or “What a smile!” or “Is he always so pleasant?” or “Look at that FACE!” . . . probably I could retire in Barbados. Is Barbados very expensive?
Sometimes I catch myself thinking it’s something I can take credit for. Can I take credit for this? Pretty please? Wouldn’t it be cool if I had some kind of awesome mommy talent of making really happy babies?
I’m pretty convinced that it’s just who he is, and that I had absolutely nothing to do with it. But still . . . I mean, what if that were my superpower?
SO! Since I am soooooo good making babies happy, I made an instructional video. Only . . . my efforts backfired? (I swear, he’s usually much more amenable to playing along with my delusions of being hysterical.) After the jump: How To Make Your Baby Laugh, a video! (I am still the only one posting these–come on, guys!)

so cute!!! ahh! no worries it’s always when you try to catch it on video that they won’t do it! my little guy sees the camera, stops whatever he’s doing and crawls up to try and grab it.
i like how he “What Up?”‘d the camera right when you set it on him. my kid turns half stoic when the camera is out too.
Thank you Natalie, that was very informative. And plan to use it with my future offspring.
I subscribe to Baby’s First Year just for your posts! Had to comment, though, because I too want to take credit for all the “Is he always so happy?” (and the “He’s so beautiful!”) comments I get about my adorable 10-month-old, Peter. He is also a major ham for the still camera, but clams up around the video. What’s that about?
Even though Huck decided to boycott laughing for the video, it made my day. What an absolute doll. AND you can definitely take credit for his being to happy. Any doubts? Check out how he looks at you. Mommy is the greatest.
XOXOXOX, e.d.
