My day started out not at all as planned. My 2 year old woke up with a fever of 102 degrees, which translated into me staying home from church with Gage and Paul, while my husband took the big girls to service.
I didn’t mind at all having to stay home, and in fact really enjoyed the quiet morning and extra cuddle time I received watching cartoons in bed with the boys.
By noon, Gage was feeling much better, and we decided to quickly venture out to lunch, some yummy Mexican fare, only a few miles from our home.
When we came home from lunch, all the kids went down for a couple hours of rest time and I *might* have spent the downtime unproductively flipping through the latest issue of People magazine.
After rest time, we did some light yard work and took a quick bike ride to the park. We concluded the day with an all to familiar “leftover supper” (also known as “eat anything you can find in the refrigerator”) and concluded the night with a short family movie in the basement. An 8pm bedtime was promptly observed for all young people under 48 inches tall.
My first Mother’s Day as Paul’s mom was super chill and was just the 24 hours I craved. I received handmade cards from the girls, and Paul even gave me a gift of a full nights sleep. I wouldn’t have wanted my day any other way.
How was your Mother’s Day? I would LOVE to hear what it looked like!
