I Am Bringing My Baby to a Woman's Rights Rally

You have a baby... at a Rally!

Just when you think you haven’t heard all the controversial or hot button posts from me before I leave Baby’s First Year… here is another one! HA!

Tomorrow I am bringing my daughter who is only a hand full of days shy of a year old to a woman’s rights rally in my state.

I have been involved since the idea of the rally started to spread across the country and I wouldn’t miss it for the world with my daughter.

Why?

Becoming a mother made me even more pro-choice than I was before I had children, but recently it has started to become extremely scary to be a woman in the country.  In the past year across the United states there have been 430 bills introduced to limit the rights of women. In 2012 this should not be an issue.

Ever since I was young I have had an extremely strong view on woman’s rights. But becoming a mother of a little girl completely put me over the edge so-to-speak. In my mind I have to fight for her rights to make sure she is able to grow up with the same rights and freedoms I had and continue to hold onto.

I want her to look back on pictures from the event this weekend and know her rights have always been important to me from the early years of her life.

I am sure in the eyes of some I am in the wrong and there is no place for a baby at a rally. In my mind this is the perfect place to show all people that we need to protect our children.

See you on Saturday!
