I Thought Car Rides Were Supposed To Soothe Fussy Babies?

I just wrote an update today with some good news regarding Kara’s colic.

While her colic does seem to be fading, the girl can still throw some major screaming fits, far more than my son ever ever threw by a long shot. She’s just a really fussy baby!

What is funny, is that the one thing that almost everyone will swear by when it comes to soothing a fussy baby is a car ride. I can’t tell you how many times someone told me to put her in the car for a drive, because it should calm her right down.

Well, car rides to not calm Kara down. In fact, they make her completely irate, and bring on some of her worst screaming fits. How strange is that?

On a recent car ride with our whole family in the vehicle, Kara started one of her fussy, screaming fits. My husband joked that he was going to put two wheels of the car off the road because clearly she needed a bumpier ride.

My son has gotten so used to Kara’s intense screaming in the car that he can actually nap right through it.

Do car rides calm your baby, or even put him or her right to sleep?
