I’m not big on pop culture. For instance, I don’t know what the hottest movies are, I hardly recognize any songs on the Top 40 music chart, and I’m pretty much a fashion disaster most day (I wear a “mom” uniform).
But while on the surfing around yesterday, I stumbled upon an US Weekly article I found interesting about Jennifer Garner. Dare I say it inspired me.
Jennifer Garner, mom to two daughters and one son, Violet (6), Seraphina (3), and Sam (born Feb. 2012) recently accepted the Female Star of the Year award at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. According to the US Weekly article, In her acceptance speech she joked about wondering if the award would be taken away, because she’s “always breastfeeding and rarely acting”.
Can I tell you how much I love this? It’s not so much that I love that she chose to breastfeed her babies and admit it (although I do love that very much), I love it because she acknowledges her role as a mother first, and her career second.
I adore that when we do see Jennifer Garner in the tabloids, she’s often wearing modest clothes, hanging out with her family, doing normal everyday activities.
Could it be? Could Jennifer Garner really be a normal person? Despite being stunningly beautiful, and painfully famous?
Sure, it could be all fake. And we only see what the media wants us to see, but from what I’ve gathered, she’s managing fame and motherhood with grace and poise.
I’ll admit it again. A woman in the Hollywood spotlight has inspired me to be a better mother. Yes, I just said that.
What actress inspires you? Anyone?
