Did 7 weeks really come and go that fast? I told you, Ludicrous Speed! Seriously feels like a blink of an eye.

A few updates before I unveil the side by side outfit shots.

First, the night time routine we started May 1. Click here if you missed it.

Little Bean is doing SO much better at going down. We’ve kept up the bath, PJs, story, lights-out flow. The first few days were TORTURE. Getting up every 5 minutes for about an our to calm him down and what not. Now we are down to an average of 15 minutes. One night he went down immediately! I have no doubt this will pay off big time as he gets older. I’m a big believer in establishing a night time ritual and bed time for baby. It helps me stay sane.

HOWEVER, even though he’s going down better he’s getting up more! His longest stretch is when I first put him down. He’ll sleep for about 4 hours but after that he’s up every two–sometimes every 1 and half–to nurse! I hoping this is just a growth spurt as he as been sort of cluster feeding.

Second, the breasfeeding gas question. Click here if you missed it.

The advice I got was WONDERFUL! Thank you so much! I decide not to change my diet first. I eat a lot of good-for-you foods, like whole grains, fruits and vegetables. I just don’t see removing them from my diet as the answer. Doesn’t my body need the good nutrients from them and won’t my breast milk be better off as well?? That’s just my thoughts on the subject. I’m by no means an expert but it just doesn’t make sense to me.

Instead, I took the non-food related advice. Mostly increasing my water consumption and balancing out the foremilk/hindmilk. I have a really good milk supply and many times I’d be very full when feeding. So for a few days now I’ve pumped an ounce or so first and then nurse. That has made ALL The difference!

Of course it’s not feasible for me to pump all the time but when I can I do it. I also try to give him the same breast if he requests to nurse with the same two hour span. So now he gets one breast per feeding unless he seems disgruntled towards the end–a sign I take that he’s not getting any more milk but wants it.

SO that’s it. He’s been doing really REALLY good. I have no complaints. Oh! and since I pumped so much the last few weeks I’m totally taking advantage and going out Saturday ALONE! That’s right.. mom is leaving Dad with the two boys and I’ll be going to a friend’s party for a few hours. I probably should take that time to sleep but I need a night out. I haven’t had any time away from baby yet.

Ok, enough chatting.. here’s the pics.

Even though I’ve seen it happen to his almost 6 year-old brother, I really can’t believe how big he’s gotten already.
