Even though I have squeezed myself back into my skinny jeans and am back to my pre-pregnancy weight, my body is definitely not the same as it used to be. I realize that unless you are a Victoria Secret model with a live-in private trainer and dietician, having your pre-baby body back is a pipe dream, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t miss it some days.
Lately, what I have been missing are my boobs. Don’t get me wrong, I love breastfeeding and don’t plan to stop any time soon, but that doesn’t mean I don’t get nostalgic.
I miss never having to worry about leaking through my shirt. I miss not waking up to B and DD cups, respectively, because I inadvertently only nursed on one side in the night. I miss not having cleavage up to my collarbones. Tops that used to fit me well now have me feeling like Christina Aguilera on the Voice. I miss buttoning things up. My favorite tailored blouses and coats don’t even come close to closing over my ample new rack.
As nostalgic as I am for the way they were, I am more amazed by what they can do. If you really think about it, breastfeeding is so amazing. My baby survived almost entirely off of breast milk for 6 whole months. And for that, I will forever be in awe.
