My Mother's Day Weekend in Photos

Mother’s Day brought on an entirely new meaning this year. It was my first Mother’s Day as a mom of two little girls.

My husband and I didn’t discuss what we were going to do for Mother’s Day weekend this year. To be honest, I didn’t want to make a big deal about it. As long as I spent it with my family, was all that mattered.

On Saturday my husband mentioned that he had a “date” planned with our oldest daughter, Harlan. I knew, without him having to tell me, that he had planned to go out with her to buy me a gift. I had no idea what he was going to get me, but he kept mentioning it to my daughter that “it was a secret.”

She blew the secret about 10 times, because every time I asked she said “we are going to buy you a present.” Lesson learned for my husband next time he tries to rely on a 2-year old to keep a secret.

On Sunday morning the secret was out and I was surprised with the absolute best Mother’s Day I’ve ever had. I have my husband and two beautiful little girls to thank for it.

Check out how I spent my Mother’s Day weekend after the jump!

    Morning in Central Park
Saturday morning started off with our Spring/Summer weekend tradition of breakfast and a walk in Central Park. Avery and I were able to spend some quality time together watching the ducks in the pond.

After the park we came home to relax. I put on a movie for Harlan and caught Avery sneaking a peek. So funny how it actually kept her entertained.

Sunday morning my husband surprised me with my favorite, Starbucks coffee in bed.

He also surprised me with a mimosa to start the day. I love mimosa's!

I actually woke up before Avery on Sunday morning. Her first Mother's Day gift to me was 11 hours of uninterrupted sleep. (Yes, she's still sleeping in her swing.)

My next gift was from the oldest little girl in the house. Harlan surprised me with a card she made and flowers she picked out all on her own.

She told me she loved the color purple, that is why she picked out the purple tulips. She also said that she drew me on the card. Melts my heart.

    Breakfast in Bed
As if coffee and a mimosa wasn't enough, my husband went to the grocery store early in the morning just so he could fix me breakfast and bring it to me in bed. I don't remember the last time I ate a hot meal, let alone in bed. It was pure bliss.

Harlan joined me for breakfast. It was her first time eating breakfast in bed. She loved every single second of it. So did I.

Out for a Mother's Day Stroll
It was such a gorgeous day in NYC so we went out for a walk. Avery fell asleep in the stroller, but Harlan and I were able to enjoy the beautiful streets of NYC.

After our morning walk we went to brunch at a restaurant. Love having my beautiful girls join me on such a special day.

Nap time meant cuddle time. Avery cuddled with me in bed, while Harlan napped in her bed. When she woke up, it was cuddle time for all three of us.

    More Relaxing
We stayed in bed for the rest of the afternoon. I wouldn't have had it any other way. Love that all four of us can have such a relaxing afternoon doing absolutely nothing. Here is my hubby and Harlan watching the basketball game. I love watching them together.

    Game Night Before Bed
As the day came to a close and bed time was near, we had one last family moment together. We love board games in our house and this just happens to be one of our favorites at the moment. Of course my oldest always wins. ;) It was the perfect ending to a perfect day.
