My Postpartum Beach Style: A Look Through My Wardrobe

Packing for a vacation can be exhausting. Packing for a beach vacation nearly five months after having a baby can be both exhausting and nerve wracking.

I’ve told you about my struggles with my postpartum body image and while I’m still trying to find peace with it, there are times when it will almost get the best of me.

I wasn’t looking forward to wearing a bathing suit at the beach due to my extreme self consciousness, but I tried to have fun with it and make the best out of the situation.

I went shopping for a new swimsuit and new dresses to wear while on vacation. Turns out that shopping can cure nearly anything. I picked out outfits that accentuatd the areas of my body that I’m happy with and hid the others that I want to work on.

I felt more confident in myself than I have in a long time and it was a feeling I would like to welcome more often.

    Swimsuit Tunic Cover Up
If you are spending any time by the beach or the pool this summer a swimsuit cover up is a must. I love this tunic from Vix because it is full of color and covers just the right areas. It is a sheer fabric so it shows a little bit of my swimsuit, which I absolutely loved.

    One Piece Swimsuit
I have never bought a one piece swimsuit in my life, but because I still have a little bit of baby weight to lose, I knew I would want to wear one this summer. I love the fact that one pieces are in style because I had so much fun wearing it on the beach. This polka dot swimsuit from J.Crew was feminine, stylish and accentuated all of the right areas. I am considering buying the same one in a different color I love it so much.

Maxi dresses are my go to outfit this summer. They are perfect for a beach vacation. I was headed out for a girls night and this was the perfect dress. I love that it can be dressed up or down so that I can wear it during the day or at night. I paired it with wedges and a chunky necklace to dress it up a bit.

    Striped Maxi Dress
I told you maxi dresses are my summer staple. They are so comfortable and look flattering on everyone. I wore this for our trip to the lighthouse. Many women tend to stay away from horizontal stripes, but I love to embrace them. This navy striped maxi dress has a bit of a nautical feel to it and is perfect for summer.

This is one of my favorite pictures from our trip to the lighthouse. Partly because my 2 year-old took it. This shows the accessories I had with the dress. Although it was a casual day, I loved to add a couple gold pieces of jewelry to spice it up a bit.

I am obsessed with this dress. Camila Franks designs the most amazing kaftans. I wore a similar dress when I was pregnant with Avery and I love that I can wear it again after. It can be worn over a swimsuit or for date night, which I wore. This is the perfect summer dress. I love all of the fun and vibrant colors and her attention to detail.

It rained a couple of days while we were out at the beach, which gave us plenty of time to dress down and explore the town. It was a bit chilly the days it rained so I am so glad that I packed an outfit for cooler weather. I always love to add a pop of color to my outfit. Color blocking is huge trend right now and it's always fun to do it in subtle ways. I paired these mint colored jeans with an orange nursing top from Bravado Designs. I covered up the tank with a gray summer sweater from J. Crew. I completed the outfit with a bright necklace to pull more of the orange color together.
