No More Baby Food!

My little man chews his food like a big boy.

Is it possible? My baby is already done with baby food? It seems like only yesterday we were trying sweet potatoes, which are still his favorite!

This is all going way too fast for me.

Now, even though he only has 4 teeth, he can handle regular food pretty well. He eats ‘big people’ oatmeal in the morning, and all the other food is in little chunks. He seems to process stuff more effectively.

While I didn’t really do much baby-led weaning early on, he seems to take to this concept the best of all. He has a great time gnawing on broccoli trees and steamed asparagus. I will say, it makes it way easier to figure out what to feed him.

I don’t give him small berries or grapes yet, unless I’ve chewed them up already, thanks to loyal reader Danielle for reminding me of this pre-mastication technique. Totally gross- but it does work.

While I am shuddering at the speed of Fuzzball’s growth, this is actually one area I’m fine to leave behind. Baby food is a big hassle, so I’m glad he can eat most other foods now.

I once saw a hilarious sketch on SNL with Will Ferrell and Chris Kattan with Julianna Margulies where Chris Kattan needs all his food chewed for him? Worth a watch. I’d link to it but I can’t find it. Anyone have a link?

When did you stop doing purees and traditional baby food? Do you use baby-led weaning?
