Nursing In Public Without a Cover

When I first had Tate, I wasn’t adverse to nursing in public, but was consistently doing it under a cover. And it worked pretty well. For awhile.

There are so many reasons why i stopped using the cover. First there’s the fact that wearing a cover seems to be far more attention grabbing than nursing discreetly without it. That is not to mention that Tate won’t nurse well under the cover now. He spends more of his time trying to rifle out from under the fabric than actually nursing.

The first time I nursed him in public sans cover happened to be in a very public setting. I was at a Christmas parade and Tate has hungry and cranky. I didn’t think twice before I started nursing Tate in a crowd of dozens. It went so well, the people I was with didn’t even notice. So I started doing it at restaurants, cookie exchange parties, and family gatherings. Most of the time, people don’t realize I am doing it, and the rest of the time they don’t seem to care.

Sometimes when I was using the cover it felt like I was wearing a sign that said, why yes, my boobs are out, be ashamed that you know that.

I feel much more comfortable and confident nursing Tate away from home now.

Would you rather nurse with a cover or without?
