Your kid came home from preschool with a cold. You kept her home for a few days, and just when she seemed to be better, she started complaining about her ear. Ugh – she probably has an ear infection (acute otitis media). An estimated three out of four children get at least one ear infection by the time they’re 3, making it the most commonly diagnosed illness apart from the common cold in young children in the United States.
