I think she is perfect in every way imaginable… But there are some parents out there who insist their little girls need some additional bling on their newborn ears. My husband just so happens to be one of those people. Me? I am in the opposite camp!
Although I had my ears pierced long before I could remember as a toddler, I really feel as though my daughter should be the one to make the choice, not us making it for her. It comes with a certain level of responsibility, and being able to clean them and turn them herself. A lesson in itself about how certain perks in life come with responsibilities.
I have been doing my best to avoid this topic altogether because it hasn’t come up since before Addison was born, but I have a feeling it will come up soon, and I am dreading it.
I am a mother who has had ear piercings, body piercings, and has tattoos, but they are things I have done on my own terms, not because my parent wanted them done (minus my first earrings) and I really feel like my daughter should be allowed to make her own choices when it comes to any kind of body modifications, which it essentially is classified as.
I know I probably have a really unpopular stance on this, but I just can’t justify having her ears pierced at this age.
People wouldn’t find it acceptable if I had her nose pierced, or something else… I just don’t understand why one is pushed, and others are looked at funny, even in adults.
Did you have your daughters ears pierced?
