Post-Partum PeanutAmy Keyishian
Call me nuts, but this cartoon, via Deviant Art, cracked me up. It’s a peanut! And she just had a baby!
Before I had Penelope, I went to a hypnotherapist in an effort to not panic about the whole baby-barrelling-through-my-vag issue (didn’t work), and fretted endlessly about it again the second time around (since Penny was a teeny preemie, so surely this one do the damage I’d been afraid of the first time, right?).
But in the end, I was way less physically traumatized than I thought I’d be. Not that it was easy or that I’m not frantically doing kegels, but I just had the teeniest tear and it was just no bigs. In other words, I didn’t feel cracked open.
Nonetheless, a baby still went through my most precious parts. And even in the best-case scenario, that’s … extreme. So I appreciate this funny little cartoon.
There’s a lot to love here: the poster on the wall (“Your Peanut And You), the way the peanut’s skin is made into a swaddle. But what I love is the look on the mommy peanut’s face. Oy! While the doctor and the dad are like: Yay! A baby!
How do you like the poor post-partum peanut? Tell me in the comments, and then go buy a print!
