If you live within a 100 square miles of an IKEA (or even if you don’t), there is a good chance that you or someone you know owns the ANTILOP high chair. It’s been a super popular highchair due to it’s small, modern size and even smaller price tag ($19.99).
Recently IKEA recalled this model after the safety belt failed to restrain several children and some had injuries due to falling from the seat. Apparently, even when buckled, the safety belt can release unexpectedly and there have been 8 reports of children falling due to this malfunction.
The recall affects over 169,000 ANTILOP highchairs in white, red, and blue sold in IKEA stores between 2006 and 2010. Recalled model numbers include:
ANTILOP high chair blue Model # 701.467.92
ANTILOP high chair red Model # 501.467.93
ANTILOP high chair white Model # 300.697.24
If you have an ANTILOP chair affected by the recall, please reach out to IKEA at toll-free at (866) 966-4532 or visit ikea-usa.com to obtain a free replacement seat restraint. Additional details are available here.
