Raise the Roof…So Your Baby Can’t Climb On It

Now that one of my daughter’s can open the front door and walk out, I’m imagining all kids of terrible scenarios.  Add to it this one- police found a 2 and 3 year-old hanging out on the roof while their parents were asleep.  Holy crap, right? Does it get any more nightmarish? It did for these parents as they were quickly arrested.

So replay, you wake-up with cops in your bedroom saying that they just found both of your babies on the roof, they are safe, but now we’re taking you to jail. I can only assume that there’s more to this case (and further reading reviewed that there were previous child abuse allegations) but unless the parents were impaired from drug use, or had locked the babies away in a room with knives and all of the windows open, jail seems harsh.  Remove the children sounds understandable for the time being- hopefully they have a friend or relative willing to care for them in the meantime. I’ve definitely heard stories equally careless and understandable at the same time. How many times have we heard of a mom or dad putting the baby’s carrier (with baby inside) on the car roof and then start to drive away?
