Born Just 9.6 oz - Baby Kenna Defies All Odds

Kenna is the fourth-smallest surviving baby in the world.

On January 9 born at just 24 weeks pregnant, Nicki Moore gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Kenna Claire Moore.

Kenna was welcomed into this world weighing  just 9.6 oz with life-threatening complications. For a visual of her size at birth was just over half a pound and she was smaller than a soda can. Kenna is recorded as the fourth-smallest surviving baby in the world.

The months following her birth were a roller coaster. Kenna endured breathing tubes and a feed tube, hernias, eye and intestine problems – this little fighter refused giving up.  After 183 days in the NICU,at Presbyterian Hemby Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, N.C – Kenna’s parents were given the go to bring her home.

While Kenna still has an uphill battle, she is making great progress. Today she weighs 6 lbs 10 oz. In the week that she has been home, she has gained 10 oz. That’s more weight than she was when she was born!
