Speaking of Tori Spelling... I Only Waited...Danielle
Tori Spelling is expecting her fourth child! I absolutely love her, but I now question her sanity.
Yesterday Meredith wrote an Open Letter to Tori Spelling after announcing her pregnancy. Which sparked the question of how long some moms actually waited to have sex after having their baby. Six weeks tends to really be the standard. But I can tell you with three kids I never waited the full six weeks. Ever.
With my oldest son I think we made it to five weeks, which was mostly because I was so damn exhausted I didn’t want to even think about sex. That and I was still pretty sore from my c-section.
My middle son – well the months after he was born were a big blur of post-partum depression, mood swings and not many things stuck in my mind. Its sad but honestly I wasn’t thinking about remembering my sexual activity timeline.
But here comes the dozy.
After we had Addison in April of last year… we waited an entire 5 days.
I had a rough pregnancy and in the end not only was sex something I was not thinking about, (because the health of my daughter was eating away at me) but because we didn’t know exactly what was going on… sex was pretty much out of the question.
We had been waiting, and waiting, and waiting… then once Addison was here safely… and I was feeling pretty human again, all bets were off.
I know my midwives are probably reading this too – Sorry Cathy!
I just had to get it out because I feel like there is nothing wrong with diving into the desire.
All mothers are different, and all of us have very different deliveries. Of course all of us aren’t going to be up for sex only a week after giving birth… do I recommend it? Probably not… but for us it was what worked.
There is nothing to feel ashamed of if you want to take a couple months off – especially if you just had a vaginal delivery. It is your right Momma! You just built, and birthed a human! That certainly calls for some rest if you ask me!
Don’t feel ashamed if your hormones got you back in bed.
Looking back at it now – I am laughing because we were… not smart considering we don’t want anymore children. But hey… We love each other!
