Spring Is In The Air! Abby's 1st Swing

Can I just tell y’all how excited we are for spring around here? It’s no secret that northern Canadian winters are pretty hardcore.

Although this year may have been warmer than usual, I still feel shriveled and thirsty for hours upon hours of rain and sunshine. Wet, earthly scents that bring the promise of lush green beauty. Tiny sprouts popping, the lake flowing freely.

The other night, we went to the beach-front park for the first time this early spring season and Abby had a go in the swing. Oh what joy for her!

Unchartered territory, she quickly adapted and fell smitten with the awesome simplicity that is THE SWING. ZOMG the swing mom! It rules! This is what her little eyes said to me.

What I look forward to most about spring? All of the activities I can enjoy with Abby outside. So many of them will be a first for her, I remember when Wyndham experienced his first spring. It was the best kind of magic. Calling to my soul as I watched his little eyes pop with wonder and glee.

Marveling at his chubby little digits as they sunk down deep into rich soil as was I planting, or as he ripped up handfuls of grass beneath a huge weeping willow tree.

I cannot wait to take this time with Abby, just her and I on occasion and as a family. I have grand plans of setting up a sandbox and a water table in the back-yard, a tent in the grass and a swing from the grand old birch I adore. Outside is where I will strip her and her brother down and lay out all the paints. All the feathers. All the messy everything, and let them just have at it. Free and wild.

For now friends, I leave you with this – a song to celebrate and get excited about: all that is spring. (Nerd alert! Nerd alert! This is the band Abby’s dad plays in!)

What activities do you you have planned this Spring for your baby? What do you look forward to most?
