Tate is All Torso

By MadelinePetersen |

There are a few things that surprised me about my husband when we started dating. One of the first things were his body proportions. He is 6′-2″, which to me is very tall (I’m 5′-2″) but was wearing pants with a mere 31″ inseam. On top of that, none his shirts were ever long enough – especially after they went through the dryer. My conclusion was that my husband is all torso.

Now, the more Tate grows, the more it seems his proportions take after his daddy. For example, he is still wearing size 1 diapers and to this day he can only fit in newborn pants even though he is more than 2 months old. And it seems he will continue to do so for the next foreseeable future. On the other hand, he outgrew newborn onesies more than a month ago.

I love his little body, his long torso and short legs are adorable to me. In all honesty, this is just one characteristic of many that is slowly proving that Tate really does look just like his father. I do still see small things in him that remind me of myself, but it seems this kid is currently way more Steve than me.

Did any of you guys have any similar circumstances with your baby having similar body types as you or you’re spouse? Leave your comments below.

Yes, I’m all torso (I’m over 5-5 yet still need petite-length pants), and so is my toddler. Like your son, he outgrows anything that snaps at the crotch long before any other items of clothing in a size. Otherwise, though, he’s a carbon copy of his father. At least that’s what everyone tells me. I look at him and just see him.

My poor 6 month old daughter has no butt, and neither do I. Shorts and pants fit her just fine, length wise, but they won’t stay on her waist without a butt to hold them up!

I feel like I could’ve written this post myself! They way you describe your husband and baby are *exactly* like mine! my men are all torso!

I see a little of myself in my son. Mostly in his mischievous eyes and cunning, manipulative communication style. And his yelling. His father has an older son (I’m not that guy’s Mom. And I like it that way) who looks almost exactly like Dad. Before I met his mother, I couldn’t begin to guess what she would look like. It seems Jack (my baby) will grow up the same way. He is his Dad’s spitting image. From his chubby paddle feet and long toes to his butt crack up to his neck to his lips and face profile. Also, Dad is 6’3” and a bigtoughguy. Jack is following suit. He is in the 75th percentile for weight and 90th for height. He will undoubtedly grow into another bigtoughguy. He was blessed with my terrible skin and my affinity for sleeping.
