Oh yea. Today I veg. Sort of. We are about to blow up the air matress and have an epic round of movie watching. Mary Poppins followed by The Lion King. We’re official vagabonds for the week, since yesterday.
There was the quintessential ruckus and beauty that is Christmas morning yesterday — followed by packing up the kids, car, presents et. al, (as in everything one needs to be away from home for week with two littles under two in tow.)
I think I’ll be following Molly’s advice on how to have a stress-free Christmas next year. Less traveling, more home time.
We are now on a much deserved break from the madness that is most of that. Making and baking and wrapping. All-nighters and babies and family and feasting and loving and presents.
Ceremony and praying and reflecting. I am pleased to announce that all of our family (thus far), respected our wishes and did not go overboard on toys. Instead it was books and some movies and clothes for growing bodies. All there is left to do now is visit our loved ones and present them with our handmade wares and goodies.
I am most excited about seeing a friend of mine later today, whom I have not seen in close to a decade! She is married to an Italian man and lives in a wee village on the southern shores of Sardegna, Italy. I can’t wait for her to meet my family! This is a woman who knows this mama from back in the day, when I was a wild(er), mouthy, Guinness-slingin’ and Irish-dancing rowdy, atop a brick-enforced bartop.
So. For now I would like to share some of our Christmas with you. Abby’s first one in specific …
Are you going crazy travelling all over the place to please extended family? Or are you home-based and chilling out? Or in between and more than okay with it, like me?
More on the Babbles …
