My Most Favorite Baby Gadget Invention Ever

The baby gadget I use on an almost daily basis.

At my baby shower (as at most people’s baby showers in general) I received a great many items that were cute, but not all that many that were actually useful on a day-to-day basis.  I don’t blame people for not wanting to get the practical stuff – it’s just not as fun and I myself love being the baby shower guest who brings the “cute gift”.

But, from now on I’m going to be that person who gets the practical boring gift, because I have discovered the ultimate most practical, but insanely awesome gift ever.

Read what this amazing gadget is after the jump!

If you haven’t already been introduced, I’d like you to meet my good friend The Nose Frida.  It’s the most effective snot sucker ever.

I quickly realized when Fern got her first runny nose at two weeks old that those typical bulb syringes suck…because actually, they don’t.  Fern freaked out and didn’t like having the tip of the bulb syringe in her nose.  Thankfully a friend of mine was kind enough to school me on the genius of The Nose Frida.  Here’s the gist of how it works…

You place the tip of the Nose Frida up against your baby’s nostril (not IN the nostril) and place  the tube on the other end in your mouth and suck out the snot!  That’s it.  It sounds super gross, but there’s a filter in the Nose Frida which keeps the snot from ever getting into your mouth.  Sometimes if the snot is extra crusty, you can spray a bit of saline solution in your babies nose prior to using the Nose Frida.

With the winter weather we’ve been having, Fern’s had a runny/congested nose almost daily, so the Nose Frida has gotten lots of play in our house and is totally making my life better.  If you haven’t tried it you should – it’s hands down the best money I ever spent on a baby gadget.

If you’re one of my pregnant friend’s you can definitely anticipate receiving one of these as a baby shower gift.

Have you tried The Nose Frida?  What did you think?

What’s the most useful baby gadget you’ve used?
