We had all sorts of goodness planned for the Easter weekend. Many of which didn’t turn out – as the mister feel quite ill. This doesn’t happen often, this getting sick business for him, but when it does, boy does it kick him on his arse! Poor dude.
We had an egg (okay, candy and chocolate) hunt and huge community feast slotted in for Friday. 1 part brunch, 1 part dinner. When I say huge, I don’t mean huge by the amount of people in attendance perse (although I guess that all depends on what you consider a large amount of people to dine with) – I mean huge by the astounding, magnificent array of dishes we all prepared.
I shan’t bore you with the details, given this isn’t a food blog and all – and if you follow me on Facebook or Instagram then you were already tortured by visuals of the top-notch cuisine.
We didn’t get much father than that when fever struck and I went on my own with our food contributions for the dinner. We had to cancel dinner on Saturday with my in-laws (technically soon-to-be in-laws), and a cherry blossom picnic at one of our favourite parks in our old Toronto neighbourhood with friends and their babies whom we don’t get to see very often.
And you know what? We still had a lovely time. Just us 4, our sweet little family – lazing about at home, me getting some chores done and taking care of my brood. Sunday showed signs of the Daddio feeling better so we ventured out for an afternoon at our local beach park, which was pure bliss. All in all – it was a memorable weekend, one that was special to whom it matters most, for us anyways. The littles!
