Having a miscarriage is a special kind of pain that can be extraordinarily difficult to understand if it’s something you’ve not experienced.
Having 14 miscarriages, a stillbirth, and watching your premature 2-week-old son die is pain beyond compare, and beyond comprehension. Maria Pridmore knows that all too well.
But now she — finally — gets to know the joy of giving birth to a healthy baby girl. Finally.
Maria’s Pridmore’s daughter, Mia Shannon, is 7-weeks-old. It’s a dream come true for Maria, particularly because she never thought she’d have a baby after all she’d been through.
It “goes to show you can never give up hope,” she said, according to BabyCenter.com (via The Sun).
Her pregnancy with Mia wasn’t an easy one. Maria had both pre-eclampsia and Strep B and was put on bed rest. The previous pregnancies had taken their toll — both on her marriage and her physical health, as she suffered two strokes before her 30th birthday.
But in the end, it was all worth it when she delivered baby Mia via an emergency c-section on January 16.
It was so worth it, in fact, Maria and her husband aren’t ruling out trying for a sibling for Mia. Eventually.
Here’s hoping their dreams can come true. Again.
