The Hour of SilenceMolly Thornberg
Life as a work at home mom of 4 kids with none of them in child care is uhm…. shall I say CRAZY? Our 2 oldest are in school, but get out at 2:50 pm. At 3:05 pm when all 4 kids reunite – chaos begins.
Today I came up with a brilliant idea. While I am not one to pat myself on the back much, today I am doing to because I deserve it for this brilliance. My idea? Let me introduce you to: The Hour of Silence.
From 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm babies go to their cribs. Big kids go to their rooms. Do what you may in your cribs and in your rooms, but this mom is enjoying an hour of quiet before having to start our evening routine.
This is day 1. I am 43 minutes into my 60 minutes of the hour of silence and people – let me tell you, this is heaven. I hear the toddler banging his crib and laughing. The older kids are not making any noise and the bebe is fast asleep. I needed this. I must find out how to make this a daily ritual.
Silence is golden people. I’m going to take a nap now with what remains of my hour of silence. Don’t worry I KNOW my kids will wake me up at 4:30 pm.
