The One Item Every Mom Needs In Her Wardrobe and 5 Ways To Style It

The One Item Every Mom Needs In Her WardrobeIn the world of fashion, black is a timeless classic. It is the epitome of chic and contrary to popular belief nothing will ever truly be “the new black.”

In addition to the black being endlessly stylish, it’s also great for moms because it covers a multitude of sins… baby puke, diaper explosions, leaky nursing incidents and postpartum body challenges, you name it. Black will have your back. Example: this weekend when we were at a birthday party and Fern peed all over my lap. Aside from the fact that I had pee on me, the incident was minimized due to the fact that I was wearing black.

Because of the awesomeness of black and the absolutely essential nature of great fitting jeans for moms, I give you the one item that every mom needs in her wardrobe: a pair of black jeans. These ones from Levi’s are my favorite since they have all the comfort of leggings, but leave you looking much more pulled together and they are incredibly versatile. I pulled together 5 different looks, a style for all occasions, to show you just how much mileage you can get out of them!

Check out 5 ways to style your black jeans after the jump!

  • Date Night 1 of 5
    Date Night
This outfit would be great for a dinner and a movie date if you manage to get a sitter - nothing too fancy, but black jeans feel a little more "special" for a night out than basic blues (although those are great too!). The outfit is fun and feminine with little pops of color brought in through accessories. And of course, heels are a necessity since you won't need to chase after little ones - take advantage of it!

Dropping kids off at soccer practice, grocery shopping or even just lounging around at home...weekends are for dressing comfortably. BUT, comfort doesn't have to mean sweatpants. The stretch in these jeans make them incredibly comfortable and by adding a simple cotton top, with a cozy scarf and comfortable, yet chic moccasins you'll have an outfit that has the comfort level of pajamas, but will be infinitely more stylish.

Getting dressed for work is often the fanciest part of a mama's wardrobe, but why not try to find pieces that can be worn during your off hours as well? If you can get away with wearing jeans to work, this is a great way to do it while still looking polished. Infuse some fun details with subtle texture and pattern mixing to make it your own.
