It’s been a very humbling few days for me, in the land of holiday list making. I’ve thought long and hard (again, I always go through this thought process during the holidays), about what I really want, the message I want to give to my children. I’m all about #HandmadeHolidays. Mostly I’ve been thinking about those who are less fortunate and choosing to have donations made over a slew of gifts.
Aside from 6 new pieces, that’s 3 per child, 2 articles of clothing and one new bought toy…(and books, books never count, many of which were thrifted), so far I’m trying to keep things under control. Is it wrong that Abby’s older bro, Wyndham, will probably get more than her this year? I don’t think so. She has no idea about what all this present business is about, so really, there is no need.
The next few things I plan on getting are from Etsy. In support of small business owners, my colleagues, many of whom are moms. No tokenism going on here, these baby toys and clothes are high quality and adorable. So. I curated a Baby’s 1st Year slideshow of possible Holiday Gifts for y’all to take a gander over. I encourage you to pick out a few choice goodies for your babe. There’s nothing quite like giving a gift that felt darn good to get…from the comfort of your home, with the click of your finger. I’ll not be trampled this year by any mobs and perhaps my few purchases will help another momma pay her bills or put some presents under the tree for her own littles.
The one thing (arguably), with Etsy is that you’ve got to get your orders in with plenty of time for shipment and even moreso if you want to custom order something. Many shops are making the cut-off date to be December 1st between Canada & the US and December 15 for same country. Anything International is too late I fear. So get to it! You’ll thank me later anyways, when you are all done and mall-zone free.
