Viral Potential: Baby Flops Out of Brother's Birthday Song VideoAlice Gomstyn
Ever get frustrated with a baby for not singing on command and refusing to show the least bit of interest in social niceties? The tot in the video below knows your pain.
Made by Brad Copeland, the writer and director of CollegeHumor’s upcoming movie Coffee Town, the video shows Copeland’s tow-headed son trying to sing “Happy Birthday” to a friend with exactly zero help — and what could be a bit of disdain — from his floppy baby sibling. The video was featured on The Huffington Post’s Parents page.
Without giving too much away, you’ll see that big brother manages to complete his song with the aid of someone more cooperative, if quieter. (Wondering where you might have seen Copeland’s name before? Oh, he just used to work on a little show called “Arrested Development.”)
Has your older child ever shown frustration with a baby sibling who was too young to join him/her in an activity?
My toddler Saucer Eyes quickly got the message that his baby brother Scrunchy Face would *not* be up for any games of catch for a while after the older one threw a ball at the younger one…and it bounced off baby’s head. Fortunately, it was a very soft ball (though that didn’t stop mommy from experiencing what felt like a soft heart attack.)

[CORRECTION, April 23, 2013: The post above has been corrected to reflect the fact that the older child in the video is a boy, not a girl. I and other folks incorrectly assumed the child was a girl due to hair length. Well, you know what they say about what happens when you assume… Something about butts. Anyway, many thanks to blogging superstar Allison Slater Tate for setting me straight!]
