Remember last week when I was bemoaning the fact that even though G is now 6 months old, I am still unable to squeeze into even my biggest jeans? I surmised that maybe it was the lack of breastfeeding this time around that was preventing me from shedding my postpartum weight. Well, it turns out that there’s actually a pretty good reason why I am not losing, and it’s not what I thought it was.
Yep, Jon and I are expecting a new baby in the summer, meaning that G and her youngest sibling will be spaced only 13.5 months or so apart. And although I have a lot of mothering experience (this will be baby # 6 for me), I have never had two children spaced super-close together like we will have this time around. It will be a real barrel o’ monkeys, I’m sure.
So far, I am feeling really good. Fingers crossed that all goes well (I have a history of miscarriage) and that I don’t become deathly ill for the first half of the pregnancy, like I did with G. Now that I am adjusted to the idea of another baby, I am getting quite excited. And I guess I will give up on trying to wear anything but giant maternity tents for the foreseeable future since I am starting this pregnancy at the same weight I was when I was 6 months pregnant last time.
So have any of you had babies this close together? What was the experience like? How was the pregnancy? Any hints or tips for making the whole thing easier?
