What a Difference Two Months Makes

By findingmagnolia |

Today marks two months since the day our plane landed in San Francisco, and we were home with Elvie at last. I have so many clear memories of that trip home, but the one that stands out most is walking through the airport in Dubai, with Elvie in my left arm, never having to stop and readjust, even as we walked to several different places to get her transit visa and board the hotel shuttle bus. She was just so light; I remember thinking that it was impossible that she was so tiny that I could walk so far without stopping to shift her weight once. At the time, she weighed just over six pounds. I still can’t wrap my head around that number.

She has grown and healed so much in the relatively short time that we have been home. Today we went to our last follow-up appointment at the hospital; she no longer needs to be monitored for the issues that landed her there soon after we arrived home. She has nearly doubled her weight. It’s amazing, really. To celebrate, I’ve collected a photos from each week since we got home, bookended by a photo taken right after we got off the plane, and one taken today. Be amazed with me. This baby is a little miracle.

The Day We Arrived Back in the US

She was so tired and so sick, and I saw that, but at the same time, I always saw her as perfect and beautiful. That day was no exception.

Ok, I never comment, but I’ve been reading awhile now, and even started reading your other blog, and I just have to say, little Elvie is gorgeous! And I know this will probably sound weird, but I think she looks a little like Zinashi. Obviously, they don’t share blood, but it seems as if they share spirit and spunk. :)

  2. Hi,
This is the first time I have read your blog, I will certainly be reading more. I love the pictures of your new born baby that illustrate how quickly babies grow. You really do have to cherish every moment as you do and be thankful for gift of being responsible for another human life. I look forward to hearing more from you :)

    Hi,
I left a comment on this blog post last year (in fact there are more than one) that was both sincere and honest. Unfortunately I have been instructed to ask for any links back to my site (baby knowledge) via blog comments to be deleted. I would be delighted if you could delete the link but keep my original comment on your page.

I hope you understand and are able to help me out with this.

    Many thanks,

    Angie
