Moms That Work Are Happier, Says StudyMolly Thornberg
More and more moms are working jobs other than the job of being a mother.
A recent study that appears December’s Journal of Family Psychology shows that working moms are happier than stay at home moms when their children are babies and preschoolers.
Can you guess who showed to be the happiest mom of all moms?
Moms that work part-time.
The study showed that moms that work part-time were less depressed, had better health and were more sensitive to their children.
“Part-time employment is not such a time drain that moms don’t have time to do other things that are important to parenting, and it’s enriching their own lives in ways that enrich their mental health,” says Buehler.
For example, part-time moms said they were as active in their kids’ schools as moms who didn’t work and, not surprisingly, were able to devote more time than moms who worked full-time.

Personally, I’m in the boat of whatever works for you. Some moms need to work. Other moms just love working. Then there are moms whose full-time job is being mom. To each her own.
I’ve been on all sides of being a working mom, and do have to agree a part-time schedule does seem to work best for family-life balance and mom-sanity.
