We’ve been lucky. Evie is so sturdy and balanced that she hasn’t hurt hurself. Never once have her little arms given up while crawling. The problem is that she has so much confidence and no concept of space or danger. She lunges from our arms at any moment and tries to crawl off beds and couches. We’re always there to catch her, but I know at some point she’ll have to get hurt to learn. (Obviously, I will continue to always catch her!)
I was talking to a friend the other day who asked how I kept from flipping out when my baby got hurt. I told her I couldn’t relate… yet. I honestly don’t know what I will do. I hope I will give a smile and say, “Uh-oh! It’s ok!” and just give her a kiss because I know reacting negatively can also upset the baby.
I’d love to know how YOU react, or what helps you keep from over-reacting.
