10 Cute Girls Hairstyles Youtube Tutorials You’ll Love

Last week I had the privilege of meeting the lovely Mindy McKnight of the wildly popular YouTube channel: Cute Girls Hairstyles. If you’ve perused YouTube hair tutorials, then you’re sure to know who Mindy is and if not, you should get to know her. Not only is she a talented and creative hair guru, but she is also incredibly sweet and a busy and beautiful mama of six (yes SIX!) children. Ever since we met I’ve been perusing all of her hairstyles and working up the nerve to try them out (I am fairly adept when it comes to braiding and styling other people’s hair, I’m all thumbs when it comes to doing it on myself). But in the meantime, I’ve come up with a little lists of favorites I’m dying to try. (Make sure to follow Mindy to more hairspiration at Cute Girls Hairstyles on Youtube! You can also find her on FacebookTwitterPinterest and Instagram!)

  • 2-Minute Faux Fishtail Braid 2 of 11
    2-Minute Faux Fishtail Braid
I love the look of fishtail braids, but they are just too time consuming when you're a busy mama, hence they happen once in a blue moon. BUT, this tutorial done by one of Mindy's daughters looks so quick and simple that I'll definitely be giving it a try soon.

    Simple Braid With Micro-Braid Accents
These little micro-braids are a fun way to make a basic braid a little bit more fun.

Give a basic bun a little update with these cute cross braids.

  • 5-Strand Messy Braid DIIY 5 of 11
    5-Strand Messy Braid DIIY
I love this braid. It is also a more difficult one to do, but once you figure it out, it shouldn't be terribly time consuming. I like that it looks messy and elegant at the same time. I will definitely be attempting to perfect this hairstyle.

    Subtle Twist Side Braid
This braid is my go-to hairstyle, but I'll be taking some of these tips to make the look a little more refined from now on.

  • Authentic Katniss Braid 7 of 11
    Authentic Katniss Braid
Mindy shot a tutorial of the Katniss braid before, but then got a personal tutorial herself from Linda Flowers who actually did the hair in the movie. Since then Mindy updated the tutorial and I love it. The skill level is hard, but it's definitely something to work towards.

  • The Knotted Pullback 8 of 11
    The Knotted Pullback
The knotted pullback is a perfect way to wear your hair down, but still keep it out of your face. The braid is also perfect for disguising baby bang (or regular bang) grow-out as well.

  • Double Frenchbacks Into High Pony 9 of 11
    Double Frenchbacks Into High Pony
Mindy wore this hairstyle during our work trip where I met her and it's seriously even cuter in person. Definitely a good way to dress up a ponytail.

  • Subtle Bow 10 of 11
    Subtle Bow
I adore all the sweet bow hairstyles that people are doing lately, but in general, I'd have to say that they're just not for me. A little too "young" for me. That said, this subtle bow strikes the perfect balance between sweet and sophisticated. I like that it's just a fun little surprise in the back of your hair. Definitely a good option if you like the bow styles, but are looking for something a bit more subtle.

  • Teased High Bun 11 of 11
    Teased High Bun
I love a good bun, but it can be difficult achieving a balance between having a "finished" looking hairstyle and not wanting it to look too prim and "librarian-esque". This teased bun tutorial will help you achieve the perfect balance of finished, but still a little undone.
