Thick hair during the summer months can be challenging. I’ve spent over an hour blow drying and flat ironing my hair for an evening out only to have humidity make other plans. I start to sweat, and my hair line becomes curly and the rest frizzes. Updos are an option, but my hair is heavy and many styles actually give me a headache after a few hours. Forget anything with bobby pins. You need dozens to keep this hair up.
I can’t wait for the weather to cool down so I can just leave my locks down and play around with different looks. I don’t always use a flat iron because I blow dry my hair straight enough, but sometimes I will run one through for a more polished look.
Flat iron your hair for a sleeker look 1 of 6
Before blowing out my hair, I use Moroccon Oil Treatment, which is infused with argan oil, proteins, and vitamins to protect it from heat. When I use the flat iron, I apply their Heat Styling Protection. I've used a ton of different flat irons for my hair. They don't all do the trick, but if you've been looking around for one, here are 5 flat irons I suggest for sleek fall hair.
X5 Superlite 450F Ceramic Ionic Nano Tourmaline Flat Iron, 1″ 2 of 6
Currently I'm using the X5 Superlite 450F Ceramic Ionic Nano Tourmaline Flat Iron, 1". It works really well on my hair and heats up to 450°F. It's very thin so it takes a bit longer to make a round through my hair, but it's totally worth it when I really want to get detailed. It's also great for traveling.
Vintage Ceramic Flat Iron by Nu Me 3 of 6
I haven't personally used this one, but it seems to be a blogger favorite when I travel. It's the Vintage Ceramic Flat Iron by Nu Me. The Vintage Iron has 100% solid ceramic plates and promises to provide precise and even heat distribution. It also has a round barrel, so you can add a bit of wave to your ends seamlessly.
Corioliss Classic Straightener 4 of 6
Another one that comes highly recommended for thick hair is the Corioliss Classic Straightener. I've seen curly hair go right to pin straight with this one!
The Instyler 5 of 6
Back in 2007 or 2008 (when I was an actress), I was in an infomercial for the InStyler. Yep, I was. Since my debut on small screens across the world at 3am in the morning, I've been asked countless times, "Does it work?" Let me be the first to tell you — it does. I was asked to be on set with my hair right out of the shower (no styling, no product), and the hair stylist sleeked my hair beautifully. In fact, they did everything from pin straight to wavy to bouncy curls. It works.
H2pro Beauty Life Vivace Nano Hi-tech Flat Iron, 1 Inch 6 of 6
Here's another one that I own and also comes highly recommended — H2pro Beauty Life Vivace Nano Hi-tech Flat Iron, 1 Inch. Temperature reaches up to 450°F and is known for styling quickly. Perhaps it's the three layers of ceramic? The Tourmaline treated plates?
