Before I suggest blush colors for olive skin, I want to clarify a few things about the term “olive skin.” It is not a one-size-fits-all description. Olive skin is often confused with tanned and golden skin. It is not the same. Olive skin in itself has different shades and can be light olive to dark olive with yellow and/or cool undertones. I may not be a makeup artist but I paint portraits and feel that many makeup brands and beauty websites over-simplify and categorize skin color (like I did with my post title). It’s actually pretty complex to define and package all of the variations found in skin tones.
I have light olive-colored skin with yellow and blue undertones. For this particular shade of olive, I find that rose and peachy blushes are complimentary and help brighten up my face, which tends to look pale when I’m not wearing makeup. I stay away from brown hues, as it makes my face look more like it’s dirty. I also find that it actually ages me. I stick with lighter and fruitier colors that are very natural. However, seeking the right kind of rose/peach blush can be as hard as finding the perfect pair of jeans. Many of the shades either don’t show up on my skin or are so saturated, I look like I’m starring in one of my son’s school plays. What to do? Here are 8 peach and rose blushes for olive skin that come highly recommended by yours truly and several fabulous Latina bloggers who love these products.
